Have you ever heard the phrase—“you don’t know what you don’t know”??  This phrase is particularly accurate when it comes to all the different chicken and poultry items that are available through Rogers Poultry.  Some chefs think chicken is all about “random” breast meat or whole body chickens.  Others, think its about one size frozen chicken breast that is all that’s available.  Well, let me assure you—there is a lot more to chicken than that!  When you tour our plant, you have the chance to see 100 plus butchers doing their thing to fill orders.

Our History

From family roots to industry leadership

1927-1950s
William Claus establishes Eastern Poultry in Nebraska, shipping chickens by rail to Los Angeles. His son, Raymond Claus, later takes over the business and relocates operations to Los Angeles, placing the family at the center of one of the nation’s fastest growing food markets.
1960s
Roger Claus joined the family business early on and worked alongside his father, Raymond, for many years before purchasing the business and renaming it Rogers Poultry. He then opened Stall 216 at the Farmers Market on 3rd & Fairfax. Known for premium poultry and holiday turkeys, Roger built strong customer loyalty through quality products and his personal touch, often greeting customers with a story or joke at the counter.
1970s
Roger brings his brother Tracy Claus into the business to launch a wholesale distribution plant. This marks the start of Rogers Poultry’s growth into large-scale foodservice supply.
1980s
With the business thriving, Roger’s Poultry outgrows its Farmers Market location. Roger and Tracy purchase the current facility at 2020 E. 67th Street in Los Angeles. They welcome two partners: George Saffarrans and John Butler. Together, they strengthen the company’s foundation for long-term success.
1990s-2000s
Rogers Poultry expands operations, product lines, and its customer base. The company becomes a trusted supplier across Southern California, known for consistent quality and dependable service.
Modern Day
Now led by George Saffarrans, John Butler, and Roger’s grandson Brett Butler, Rogers Poultry operates two USDA-certified processing and distribution centers in Greater Los Angeles. The company has expanded its product offerings to include poultry, beef, seafood, dairy, and grocery programs. Rogers Poultry proudly serves restaurants, hotels, distributors, and foodservice providers across Southern California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Arizona.

Recognized as an industry leader, Rogers Poultry has earned the highest honors in annual Global Food Safety audits. The company remains family-owned and continues to uphold its nearly 100-year tradition of quality, integrity, and service.
Looking Ahead
Now in its fifth generation of family leadership, Rogers Poultry is preparing to celebrate its Centennial Anniversary in 2027. The company remains committed to its heritage while continuing to grow and adapt to serve the next century of customers.
